Carol Wolniakowski

Where will 2024 take you?

The world is bustling with incredible wine and food experiences, offering a tapestry of flavors, history, and traditions. My goal for the new year is to share these unique culinary adventures with you - inspiring you to explore the world through food and wine!

Here are some fabulous epicurean adventures to consider this year:

Learn to sail and taste wine like a pro in Normandy, France.

Spend a weekend exploring the rugged coastal waters of Normandy with a skipper and sommelier aboard a private yacht. Put your feet up and enjoy the stunning vistas, or jump in for a hands-on sailing experience. Visit local vineyards and delve into different French wine regions with on-board wine instruction and expertly-paired gourmet meals. Normandy is renowned for its lush landscapes, quaint fishing villages, and medieval towns - not to mention its exquisite cheese! Explore this fascinating region's epicurean and cultural riches from a unique - and exhilarating - perspective.

Tour the ancient Istrian olive groves in Istria, Croatia.

Olives have been cultivated and pressed for oil on the Istrian peninsula since Roman times. Jump in, buckle up, and explore the scenic countryside in a vintage Land Rover Defender. Discover the local vineyards and olive groves as you taste your way through this historic region. Enjoy stunning vistas and sample local sparkling wines on your way to visit one of the best producers of extra virgin olive oil. You will tour the olive grove and enjoy a guided degustation of oils from different olives, comparing and contrasting the flavors. Follow with a tasting of the best Istrian wines accompanied by small bites. Discover the local history of this fascinating region and see why Croatia is an underrated producer of olive oil.

Bike, hike, and sip your way through Mendoza, Argentina.

Discover the flavors of a vibrant young gastronomy scene on this 7-day multi-adventure tour. Pedal through scenic vineyards, learn about the wine-making process, and sample the region's signature Malbec wines in award-winning bodegas. Explore the majestic foothills of the Andes, ascend on foot to delicate alpine wetlands, and raft the rushing Mendoza River. Experience Argentina's arts and culture as you dance and savor the local cuisine. This is a bucket-list experience for anyone who loves food, wine, and outdoor adventures!

Hunt for the infamous white truffle in Piemonte, Italy.

The stunning region of Piemonte in northwest Italy is home to the most prized truffle in the world: the white Alba truffle. Visit a local truffle farm and join the farmer and his dog on a truffle hunt. Witness the dog's incredible sense of smell and ability to hone in on the fragrant fungi inches beneath the ground. Learn about the origin of the truffle and the challenges facing modern-day truffle farmers. After your scenic hike through the forest, you will taste this delicacy and learn the distinct aromas and flavors unmatched by any other truffle. This is a must-do foodie experience for anyone who loves fine cuisine.

Tend sheep and learn to make cheese in Basque Country, Spain.

Step back in time and discover the ancient Basque cheesemaking tradition dating back thousands of years. Visit a local sheep farm in the foothills of the Western Pyrenees mountains and become a shepherd for a day. Pitch in with daily chores like milking or shearing the sheep, then roll up your sleeves to make the famous local cheese, Idiazábal. Finish your day with the ultimate farm-to-table experience: sample your fresh, soft cheese alongside the house-made, aged Idiazábal paired with the slightly effervescent local white wine, Txakolina. This is an incredible opportunity to immerse in the traditions of a local Basque family.

There are exciting food and wine experiences in every corner of the globe - where will you go first??
